Added an existing user and all my managed users disappeared!?!?!?!?!

If my friend accepted an invitation sent to his plex email address(I assume the green check when adding confirms that is indeed a registered plex account) …how could he have accidentally accepted it from my account? …the account that sent the request? Wouldn’t that be redundant?

I will talk with him and try and figure out what went wrong …when I first invited him he was next to me and was trying to accept invite through email link on his cellphone …and the link address wouldn’t load so he went home and tried it on his laptop …and then this happened.

Whatever happened I don’t appear to be added to anyone’s home or linked to any other plex account… still just says friend invite pending.

He did say something about being signed in through his google account? …could that have affected the invite process?

Blacktwin this in NOT your fault. The “stern” warning is at the bottom of the email below. They bolded the header… Wow, even Microsoft is better at this! This cannot happen. the best suggestion in this thread is to force the admin to purposefully delete all managed accounts before being eligible for joining a different home. And we never received any other warning besides the email. PLEX is a fantastic tool and works like no other public-facing media server, but the server/user architecture for PLEX has been filled with voodoo since being released. Gotta fix this one guys…

Seriously? The please note is bold, if you don’t read that and just click, how can it be Plexes fault?

Ya, seriously. I’m sure there a plenty of people, customers, who have wiped out hours and hours of work after manicuring their family users. They are not IT specialists, they don’t write SQL, they expect the designers to protect consumer-level software from allowing a destructive operation like this. You should not be allowed to have any managed users to qualify to join another home. That would make it plain to average users what they are about to do who can’t digest the convoluted docs on this subject.

Correct. I have nothing to do with this issue other than providing a solution that helps others that were as dumb as me and instantly clicked “I ACCEPT”. I do not work for Plex. Not really sure why you brought me up in that context.

Only users who have a Plex account (email address) would be able to leave for another Home. Thus this account/user is independent of any server and can do as they wish.
