Merged 2 Plex accounts and lost all my Home Users, and their On Decks and Playlists

Server Version#: 1.14.1.5488
Player Version#: 1.14.1.5488

So I really need to try and figure this out. I had 15 Home Users on my main plex account and somehow I merged it with a new Test account I was playing around with. Then I noticed ALL my Home Users were gone, along with their Playlists and On Deck. PLEASE can someone help me get this data back and back to the way it was? All my Files are intact, and categories, JUST the Home Users are gone. PLEASE HELP! I backup my VM’s daily and have already tried restoring to that but they are still gone which tells me this is something CLOUD related. Please help me if you can :frowning:

merged how?

users are tied to the account.

so most likely you simply need to sign the server back into the original account.

should be able to see them @ https://app.plex.tv/desktop#!/settings/users/home

I accidentally did Add An Existing Plex User and when I did that it combined both accounts into 1 and deleted all associated Home Users. I since then unassociated them from one another hoping my Home Users would come back but they didn’t. I have logged back into said accound and it’s still only my main ADMIN user, and none of the other 14 are there anymore.

None of that makes any sense to me?

adding an existing plex user doesn’t merge anything.

a shared user can also be part of a family/managed users

If you are logged in to the correct admin account and your managed users don’t show up at the above url, it sounds like you disabled or removed managed users and then from my understanding they are gone permanently.

The users are part in the cloud and part in the database, when one gets deleted or otherwise gone in the web, it doesn’t matter if you restore the database.

THIS is what I am talking about. This is what happened. It makes perfect sense, its happened to others before. I’ve heard that a Plex Admin on their end can possibly fix this for me. If not, me doing something from within Plex that should have warned me of this happening happened. Just because I wanted to manage both servers from a single interface (like a Vsphere situation) I screwed myself and all it did was give me 2 users, an admin name for each Server and it deleted all other 14 users I already had setup. Ugh I just can’t believe this wouldn’t be TOLD to me before I tried merging.

I see.

Users can only be a part of one “home” group.

If you are an admin of ‘home1’, and you are invited and join ‘home2’, then all of ‘home1’ gets destroyed.

Yup, sounds bad and yeah, plex system should not allow you to join another home without requiring you to leave or delete your own home first.

Does anyone have any solutions to this problem? I just shared my library with a friend who is also a Plex user but now my managed users are gone as well.

I had to rebuild the accounts and reshare it all. I found 0 solution to this issue when I had it. Sorry!

you should never ever ever sign out of your SERVER (plex web > settings > general > signout then sign in with a different user = BAD BAD BAD

you can invite other emails to your home/family from the settings > home users > add user

you can sign out of the WEB browser at the TOP RIGHT where your initial is

but you should never sign out at the server level, nor sign in the server with a different user

Then there should be warnings right before doing something like this, possibly 2 levels of “are you sure?” So we know we are about to do something that will change our entire layout. Also a screen that tells you what you’ll potentially lose.

I agree, but it is not like any of us can make that happen.
