I want to add a network folder that I can access in windows file explorer, to a PLEX library. Whatever I try I get the message:-
"There are no items in Library"
When in fact there are files. I can play the files and map the folder to windows Film & TV App.
I have mapped the drive with a drive letter; I have used the UNC path in the PLEX library, but files are still not found.
I am running PLEX on my ASUSTORE NAS. The Folder I want in the library is not on the NAS but another device on the network.
For Plex to see the content on that other share/drive, you need to make it locally available to the NAS’ file system.
Here’s a description from Asustor on how you can mount such a remote drive using NFS. I suppose their knowledge base has similar articles for other protocols if you’re e.g. using SMB/CIFS. When you’ve successfully connected that drive, make sure the plex account of the Asustor NAS has access to it.
Thanks for the reply. That was indeed the solution. I only needed to do steps 1 - 5 and then the folder was able to be added to PLEX by browsing folders and I could then see and play the content from PLEX.
