Adding unrecognised Devices?

Hi there,

I am running plex media server from a nas4free box and am able to access it everywhere on my network from my android tablet to my samsung bluray and my WDTV.
However… when I check devices my android tablet and my samsung bluray are correctly identified but my wdtv is not. It just comes up as “unknown”.

I had been keen to modify the profile for this device but in the media server’s device profiles folder there is a profile for the wdtv live but not the wdtv.

I can easily duplicate the wdtv live profile and change the name but how do I get plex to associate it with my device?

How does plex recognise the devices and match them with the profiles?

I know the local ip of my wdtv - can I assign it somehow through that?

I have some SSH and basic linux skills so I’m not afraid to dig a bit.

Andoid and samsung are using ‘proper’ Plex clients.
The WDTV just uses DLNA, which is seriously limited in what it can do.
