Advanced Filter by "HDR is false" is Showing Dolby Vision Movies

Server Version#: 1.25.1.5286
Player Version#: 1.39.0.2753-d48b8c8b, Windows

When I use the advance filter to look at which movies are not HDR, there are false positives for Dolby Vision movies. I tried looking at HDR movies using the advanced filter, I could not find one that was Dolby Vision.

The HDR filter acts like a HDR10 filter. It does not show DV media.

The problem is Plex does not fully recognize Dolby Vision media.

Dolby Vision profiles that are HDR10 compatible are displayed when using the HDR filter. If you look on the movie’s pre-play page, you’ll notice the video is listed as “HEVC Main 10 HDR,” not as Dolby Vision.

Dolby Vision profiles that are not HDR10 compatible, such as Profile 5, are not displayed when using the HDR filter. On the movie’s pre-play page you’ll see the video listed as “HEVC Main 10.”

Dolby Vision information is visible when viewing the Media Info window in Plex Web.

You may wish to vote for the feature request to correctly display Dolby Vision media. The thread also discusses having the filters correctly recognize DV media.

Dolby Vision is not technically HDR, they are competing standards, so the logic is correct.

I believe this is because HDR is sometimes included with DV to provide backwards compatibility. Plex will detect this, it’s not specifically related to the profile.

Thanks for the clarification.
