I can get Alexa to pause/resume an already playing episode
I can get Alexa to play the next episode when one has finished
I can get Alexa to stop but not then resume an episode
I can get Alexa to go back, up as many levels as you like until it hits home
It will play a music artist but not an album or track
ie “Alexa tell plex to play rolling stones” will get a random rolling stones album
but “alexa to plex to play paint it black by the rollikng stones” either gets here is “random song random band” or “oh uh something went wrong”
I cannot get plex to play a specific episode or film ie if you ask for Star wars episode 4 it will try to play QI S15E04 Next but nothing actually plays
I cannot get Alexa to navigate plex either inside a library or between libraries
I ended up giving up with controlling Plex with Alexa, mainly because if I’m listening to music, or watching a film, then the volume levels of my home theater are normally too loud for Alex to actually hear me!
Its all good starting an episode or a movie, but when when she can’t hear me say pause or stop, it becomes a bit useless!
And besides, you will always have the remotes right by your side anyway
You have that many remotes? I have one for firestick, one for TV, one for PC and one for the amp. So no use to me unless I am in thre main room, mostly notice this for multi room audio but would like to change player that is cast to for vidoe as well.
Pluis it’s an advertised feature and why I went with Alexa over it’s rivals.
Wish I had the time to migrate to something else probably Embry but I don’t especially given the number of plex installs I support for other people
So fed up with plex and their lack of support and overstated (being polite) advertising, especially as all the new streaming features are US centric
Wonder if you can sue for time wasted and false advertising?
Yup… AVR, TV, NVidia Shield, and a media remote for my HTPC.
Yeah, a lot of people do feel the same, but depending on your problem, it is certainly possible to get things fixed by using the forums.
Now you mention it, I can certainly see how Alexa could be more useful around the house, but for me, I pretty much only use my living room, and as I said, she never hears me when I’m actually playing something due to the volume level.
Yup I pretty much gave up on getting this feature to work properly. Barely works at all here in Canada, which I thought had been fixed, but apparently not.
It sorta works in the web application, but getting it to search for shows and stream them to my fire TV never seems to work ever just a lot of 'oh oh something went wrong"
