The new blog post doesn’t cover it and I’m hesitant to upgrade to Plex Pass or purchase more hardware without some specifics, can Alex pause and resume playback using voice commands?

I’m just curious, how does Alexa know which Plex player to control? For example I have one in the living room and one in the bedroom upstairs.
You don’t need plex pass for Alexa and you’re lucky if it works for you. Mine says it’s working and playing but I get an error ok the player. And it will only find one player my fire TV even it it’s off and another one is on.
I wish they could set up another app or interface to direct stream your music like Spotify, iheart, amazon, pandora.
Hopefully the cloud server will be able to or make a cloud player.

You ask Alexa to ask Plex to change your default player. It will give you a list of players it finds and then you tell it which number. After that it will use that default player. Note you need to use your primary account that you signed up with Plex. I couldn’t get Alexa to find Plex players because I was logged in as a managed user.
