Please get this feature! I want my niece to delete all those dang chick flicks when she’s watched them!!!
+1
Would love this feature, but really only would use it if it could be set on a per library basis. I have a few libraries for movies, tv shows I want to keep, and a library that is just for DVR content (set at the default). I don’t really want anyone being able to delete from the other libraries, but if my kids DVR something, I want them to have the ability to delete it as they login to the client under their own managed user profiles. The auto delete after the admin watches it doesn’t really work in this scenario as it isn’t content I would ever watch.
Ditto here. Want to let my kids record and delete shows, but don’t want them to have admin access (for obvious reasons … LOL).
Agreed, I would like to see a menu of rights that could be passed on to certain accounts by the admin.
But with only 4 votes, I don’t see this happening anytime soon.
@Pegasus9 this exact issue has hundreds of votes in a different thread.
Great. Perhaps It would be better to create a single list clearly stating what suggested improvements have been submitted rather than having them spread helter-skelter using different wording.
I can only speak for myself, but I chose to pay for the program in spite of the limitation but with the hope that it would be resolved.
How has such a basic DVR feature been left out for so long, my initial searches showed multiple requests for this dating back to 2014… As with any in-home DVR system, anyone with the remote should be able to hit record for a currently playing show, schedule a recording of an upcoming show/series, and, very importantly DELETE a show when they’re done watching it. It is a bit silly that this request appears to be unanswered and this thread has to even exist.
Please update to allow the option for Managed Users to Delete a show. Simply allowing any family member access to full PLEX configuration just so they can delete a show, or having one person responsible for this is silly.
Can we please get a response/update from PLEX on this? I’ve purchased the plex pass and recently gotten rid of Verizon Fios TV/DVR, and am quite disappointed that this basic feature does not yet exist in current releases of Plex.
BTW, thanks for PLEX, it’s an awesome system - let’s just pay a little more attention to your paying community.

Would help out with DVR and also with Camera rolls as well. Some times there just a bad picture you took while trying to take a picture of the sun.
+1 for a few years already !
+1 as well, this is annoying that it’s still not an option.
+1 This would be a great feature! I agree with frenchk though.
+1 on this. For the record, Emby has this feature for their managed users. C’mon Plex!
This REALLY needs to be implemented! This request goes back quite a while WITHOUT any acknowledgement from the Plex team!
Then I really don’t see the need for Plex or any media management software for that matter.
On a simple scale why use Plex if at any given time you have 2-3 episodes from 4-5 shows and a movie or two. Anyway, my rant is over. Count me out of this deletion thing(like it matters anyways).
I’m not a hoarder either but we have tv shows and movies that queue up (due to time constraints) that may sit on the server for weeks or months at a time. We do keep some tv shows and movies to re-watch again over time but mostly, we like to delete these as we watch them. The ability for managed users to delete content keeps Hallmark Christmas movies OFF my account and would allow my wife to keep the server cleaned up rather than me having to do it after the fact. Same goes for kids shows, etc.
For some households a single admin account works fine but for others with managed accounts, it’s administrative overhead that annoys the crap out of me.
+1 Would be a brilliant feature, long overdue
I would like this too. sometimes I am watching family shows with the kids in their account and it would be great to delete from there.
This seems like a no brainer, and as opposed to a “feature” feels like more of a design “miss”… something that realistically should have been an option from day one. Because its subject to the voting system, I wonder if it will ever be implemented.
I think that a delete option that marks files for deletion and shows what user has requested the deletion then, the admin would go through the list and actually select the files to be deleted.
That way a file wouldn’t get deleted when others haven’t see it yet, or the one pissed off managed users who decides to delete all the media.
edit: made the first statement a little clearer.
Now that’s a fantastic idea!!! I would get behind that. I would even vote on that.
And maybe have a time the admin can set “delete flagged items in xx days/weeks/months”. That way the admin don’t really need to “delete” the files and can have time to “cancel” any files that are queued/flagged for deletion.
Really, I like the hell out of that idea. It’s the best of both worlds. Great thought!!!
