My wife and I each have our own home user account on Plex, but we often watch shows together. We’ve gotten into the habit of always using my account when we watch something together, but this means her account is wildly inaccurate in terms of what she has watched.
It would be great if there was something like a “Who’s watching” menu or tag that we could select whenever we are watching something together, so that it would tag that show as watched on both of our accounts, when we are finished viewing.
Hopefully you will consider adding a feature like this. I think it would be great for families and couples who share a Plex server and have individual accounts.
Thanks for the suggestion! We’ve discussed a few different ways of potentially doing this over the years, but never landed on anything which would be especially elegant or simple to implement (across all our apps). I definitely agree with you it would be cool
Hi Elan, I’m glad to know that at least it has been discussed.
If I can offer a suggestion, how about a menu item either on the main page for the item (I’m not sure what it’s called … the screen where Play, Shuffle, Markas Played, Go to Show etc). This additional item can be called “Who is watching?” Or something along those lines. If the user clicks that button, it would bring up a list of all users on the Plex. This way it could be ignored if you are watching alone, or if the user doesn’t want to use the feature.
Alternatively, it could also be available in the Playback Settings page once playback has begun. Again, by adding it there, it can be ignored if the user doesn’t want to use it.
It could even be activated or hidden as a feature, for those that are not interested in using it. And it could also be automatically hidden for users that only have one account on their Plex server.
Just a few thoughts… hope you will consider them. Thanks!
