Allow movie searching and watchlist addition from Plex powered by IMDB

Powering the search function in all apps/supported systems with IMDB integration when enabled in the Plugin settings will allow you to search a movie you might have or not.

The results could show the IMDB data if it is exposed by their API, when it is not found in your library the option to add it to your watchlist (when automated by CouchPotato) would power Plex to new heights of customization and availability for server owners.

User who might not be the server owner searches for a movie, it’s not on my server, but I have enabled that user to add movies to the watchlist and they do. CouchPotato/Sab grabs movie and could even notify the user their request has been fulfilled. The movies searched could also be limited by the rating level of that user, so kids can’t add R rated movies, even if they wouldn’t get access in Plex it would still download.

This feature can be built through CouchPotato but you have to have the other person make an IMDB account and create a watchlist and maintain that…I have seen less than stellar results. Integrated into Plex this would increase ease of use for non-server owners, and make the Plex app the go to media choice. I love the Plex SW and have quite a few users I support, and I take pride in hearing they look on Plex first for content, this feature would be a great addition to the platform.

Dont think that is something that Plex wants to get into but look into this, there are other apps that do the same thing. I don’t think Plex wants to enable any SB, CP, SAB functionality.

I am aware of meteor, but that is another application that must be run and managed independently. Not that big of a deal until you start counting up all the things needing management time. I was wondering if that was an option now or in the future, but it sounds like you think the answer is no.
