This may be an active suggestion, but my search did not find it so apologies if it is.
Summary: Provide ability for Plex user to identify their favorite channels after setting up the DVR. Once these channels are identified, allow the user to view their favorite channels from the Live-TV-DVR function.
Use Case: Selection of favorites would be saved in the DB per user. This way, each user would be able to identify their own favorites. Below is a mockup screen shot of a proposed U/I
Expand the standard Guide to include a star on each channel row, which is active and if selected will indicate the channel is a favorite. When the star is selected, PMS will save this information is a Favorites segment in the DB indexed by user. The selection and de-selection of the channel as a favorite can be done at will.
2, Add a menu item at the top of the screen called “Favorites”. When selected, an abridged EPG is displayed containing only the favorite channels.
The order of the favorites channels will follow the order where they appear in the full EPG. [Note: I recently changed from a Happauge Dual-TV USB tuner to a HDHomerun Prime with CableCard and found this completely scrambled by channel lineup (because of my cable service, not Plex) and it is a less convenient lineup order. If we could also change the lineup order at will, that would be great but I am certainly not greedy about that,]
I believe many of us are using Plex for TV as much as Movie and Music Library, and this would be an exceptional feature moving forward.
This has already been raised and discussed in an existing feature suggestion. I recommend you comment/vote in that thread in order to avoid distracting/dispersing votes.
Unless I’ve missed something, I’ll close this thread as a duplicate.
Thanks for letting me know this was raised. Although you want to close this thread, I hope the information in my suggestion would be useful to the developers. BTW, do we know if this feature is in development/on a list of accepted features to be developed/being considered but not committed/not being considered at this time. The Plex community would like to know.
Plex doesn’t usually comment on their roadmap / timelines unless things are super solid. This is usually to avoid mixing up expectations and frustration if that roadmap changes along the way – personally I can understand that more transparency could be beneficial… on the other hand I see how Plex as a company can be impacted if their feedback has to be reversed due to some other dependencies…
I wouldn’t hold out much hope , as you can see that thread is almost 5 years old. Even really popular ideas just seem to get ignored and their policy of not commenting certainly doesn’t stop frustration.
Given the number of popular ones that have been implemented, I tend to disagree with your view. As said above… I can see that the common non-response can be perceived as frustrating; first and foremost it means the suggestion hasn’t been ruled out / dismissed for good… from what I’ve seen, that doesn’t mean they’re plainly ignored.
