Currently I can use the Program Guide to discover movies on a specific channel. I would love the option to create a “channel group” or “favorites list” of multiple channels, and then be able to discover movies/shows on all channels within that grouping. I would also like the option to name the grouping, for example Sports {660,661,664} or Movies {600,601,602}.
Right now I need to use the discover movies by channel search 10 times on 10 specific channels. While this works great, and I really appreciate this functionality, I’d love a way to search using a grouping so I only had to do one search.
I’d also be OK with an advanced search option where I could create multiple “searches” and then chain them together. For example search 1 would be “movies on channel 600” and search 2 would be “movies on channel 601”, and then I could say advanced search for search 1 and search 2. I believe this would be a more advanced feature than searching by a favorites list, and harder for non-technical people to use. That said a search by a favorites list could just be another “search” a user could define in an advanced search if the favorites list feature was implemented first.
thats is a great idea, on a secondary question are you seeing that some channels don’t show but a few movies in the guide yet you know there have to be more then that physically? I am seeing channel like HBO only show 1 movie available yet you and I know HBO is almost all movies all the time.
Emby by default lists the channels you have marked as “favorites” within the HDHomeRun interface at the beginning of the the “On Now” section. Doing that here would accomplish at least part of the OP’s request. I personally don’t care that the Weather channel is on right now even though its first in my list of things I can watch., Moving the channels Ive marked as favorites to the beginning of the list makes much more usable sense.
Basically I’m in favor of this. We need something in the TV channel timeline grid to give a favorite channel view or a custom sorting of channels.
Some way to put the most used channels on top or alternatively filter out the channels that are least important. I think either option could fill the same need.
Definitely need a custom channel list. I have to search through too many channels I don’t care about plus the Plex “HD Channels Only” list only contains about half the actual HD channels in my area.
Is this idea dead? Would be great if it showed up on the Live TV tab on android devices, right above where the channel list options were so you can easily access those channels without going to the channel list, then scrolling to find the channel you want.
I agree definitely need a favorites section. I’m tired of scrolling to channel 630 every day from 1 to find the channel I want. It doesn’t look like Plex has any interest in doing this as they haven’t even responded to this form:(
Any news on this? is there are plugin at least to do this?
I will like also to know if is possible to change from one channel to the next channel without have to back out to the guide. like pressing next button and go to the next channel. is that doable?
A bump for this. I just got my DVR set up in Plex and it’s a pain to have to scroll through all channels to find the one I want. I’m surprised this wasn’t implemented from the beginning, it’s pretty basic functionality imo. A favorite’s list or, even better, groups so that I could have one for sports, one for entertainment etc.
I just got a HD Homerun, and am using Plex DVR for the first time. I can’t believe I have to scroll past all the SD channels to get the HD ones - please allow us to have a favourite channels list!
There is an HD Only view if that’s the only thing you want to see. It’s not a perfect work around if you had a couple SD favorites you also wanted in there.
I think this is crazy that you can’t create a favourite channels list and then add to your home screen. Over the years the Plex DVR has been improved however it’s still behind Emby for this.
This would be a great feature, the ability to create channel groups and favourites for live TV/DVR, it’s so frustrating having to scroll through the guide to find a channel at the moment.
I’d really love to see this, its currently painful browsing the guide without basic filters. They already have something similar for Live TV on Plex so I hope the plan is to bring this over for the rest of the app.
plus one for the channel groups. e.g. xteve lets us make own groups. they will all show up as one big group on plex. nightmare to scroll through. already implemented favorites help a bit, but far away from ideal solution… if live tv can create channel groups, this should also be possible. just get an inspiration from emby where it is working like nicely…
