Alphabetical Grid to Replace the List - Plex Amp for Android Auto

Please improve the alphabetical search/filtering for Plex Amp in Android Auto.

The vertical, alphabetical list is sooo slow and cumbersome to navigate while driving. We need to replace the vertical list of letters with a qwerty-style grid of letters, which would allow you to see the entire alphabet at a glance instead of scrolling 3 letters, waiting 5 seconds for the Android auto safety lock, scroll, wait, scroll, wait, scroll wait, ad nauseam.

You can’t do that on Android Auto.

Bummer. How does Google maps use the qwerty keyboard for searching destinations?

Edit:
I see now. Google doesn’t allow the keyboard to be called while the car is in motion, so it would only be useful while parked.

It’s a nav app, not a media app.

Thanks for the feedback.

I had no idea how restrictive android auto actually is: developers are really confined to Google’s structure. I always thought developers worked within some recommended guidelines for AA apps, but in reality, the app structure and design is completely locked down by the platform. It makes sense from their perspective, but it’s also a shame that they haven’t addressed some of the glaring usability issues they’ve created.

Amen!

Perhaps it’s a good reason to lobby for more Plex mixes offered on the home screen. If browsing artists and tracks is cumbersome, is it possible to increase the amount of sonic mixes available? Perhaps there is a trick we can find to refresh the mixes more frequently to increase the odds of getting something that matches our vibe?

Best way to do that is to play more music
