Hi there, just wanted to ask a quick question, out of all the cloud sync option Amazon Drive does not seem to want to upload?
Google works
Dropbox works
But Amazon drive just says waiting to upload?
Is there a setting or something I can do to get it to work?
Many thanks.
Yep. rclone http://rclone.org/ (but that’s for your files external to PMS. The PMS - Amazon thing is Amazon’s problem. You could link another Cloud service)
Hi ChuckPa
How does it work with regards to syncing your media?
Do i still go through the normal process?
or is there some fancy setup?
Cheers
rclone is a direct copy utility. it will copy anything you tell it to your cloud storage. It’s that flexible and powerful. It will also keep at it until done (unlike the amazon client which gives up and skips stuff).
Yes, to set up a new cloud link just repeat the process you did for the first. I have both Amazon and Google linked. The ‘learning curve’ was doing the first one
so do i have to manually copy the transcode files to amazon?
If you’re using Cloud Sync, Plex will upload your files for you just as it does now. That’s automatic.
If you’re using Plex Cloud, you copy the source up . That’s why things are different
Maybe, sometime in the future, there might be an upload feature to Plex Cloud but it’s WAY too early to think of such a thing… First it needs to be stable enough for everyone to use
All i want to do is upload some TV shows to Amazon Drive with Cloud Sync. but the files do not upload though PMS. just says waiting to upload.
But Google and Dropbox it works the files are being uploaded, but Amazon drive is unlimited so this would be ideal.
What could be the cause for the files not to sync with Cloud sync (not plex cloud).
That’s precisely the problem we’re facing with Amazon. If you look in your Plex logs, you’ll find error 429 (Rate Exceeded) when you try to sync. When Plex Cloud tries to gather metadata in the cloud, it’s getting the same error… and it’s using Amazon’s servers!
What we’re finding is somewhere in Amazon’s I/O mechanism they have a limiter built in. Presumably they never intended for people to upload a lot of files. They were probably thinking of things like backup files (one big honking file). They also intended to send data (hence their streaming service) but most likely NEVER thought about the reverse situation (backing up individual photos, etc)
If you use their Web UI, it only thinks in blocks of 1000 files. That’s ridiculous. Go to Google or elsewhere and it’s not a problem.
IMHO (this is me talking only) I think Amazon was short sighted or lazy. Pick whichever you wish.
Am I making any sense?
There is there a way I can rclone my files to amazon and get them to show up in cloud sync? (not plex cloud).
since I not got beta access to it yet?
You can put your files on your Amazon Cloud Drive. When you have access to Plex Cloud, you’ll be able to point it at your ACD and it will start accessing them.
As for Cloud Sync, because it is keeping track of what is sync’d and where, you placing the files on Amazon doesn’t link them into Plex. That’s the only issue there. Remember, your Cloud Sync files are name-obfuscated. That’s why the database has to know what they are.
Know where I can get some access to Plex cloud?
Love to give it a go.
You’ll have to put your name in the hat like everyone did, wait, and hope to get lucky. The beta is a closed beta this time. A lot of problems with Amazon are keeping it that way. When they get resolved, it will open up more. To date, results are mixed. Some are ok, some have complete failure, while others somewhere in between.
The form is floating around the forum and/or the main site. sorry i don’t have it handy

ya good luck trying to get a straight answer on that one…
I have had the best results with rclone. I have uploaded 6 TB to amazon drive with no issues in hopes of getting a beta invite soon.
