Amazon Fire Stick 4K or Roku Streaming Stick +

Hi,

I’m debating whether to get an Amazon fire stick 4K or a Roku streaming stick +. I read on the forums that after an update the fire stick is no longer playing 4K content. Is this still the case or was it resolved with another update? Should I go ahead with the Roku?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

This Roku Ultra - the flagship of the line is $75:

That’ll pretty much curb-stomp a FireTV anything - long time FireTV/Plex Victim and have the scars to prove it.
Do anything you can to stay as far away from that combo as possible.

A Roku Ultra ‘Refurb’ (I have 3 of them - somebody probably didn’t like the color) is a solid investment at $75 - and Amazon’s return policy is bulletproof - allowing you to pick up a cheap one someone didn’t want.

And if you need another reason to go with a Roku - The Roku UNO app stands at the top looking down at a whole lot of awful Plex Apps - the app on FireTV being at Rock Bottom. The Android app doesn’t even have an Actor list, must less any images of them.

I really cannot comment on the 4K part as I see no advantage to it.

However the Fire 4K stick is the most reliable Fire device I have used.

I usually recommend Roku devices over Fire devices but in the case of the sticks the Fires seem to stay connected much better.

I use Roku for over 90% of my playback but the only sticks I own are Fire devices.

Thanks for the tip!
