Amazon fire TV 4K and Fire Cube 2ng gen, play AAC 5.1 with no center channel, and wont transcode to AC3 5.1 (that works as tested with other files) or downmix to 2.0 to atleast get dialogue

Also, AAC 5.1 is seen and played when plugged in directly via usb, just not via Plex

Update, tried playing in web viewer in Silk browser on the fire, and it works. must be some issue with Plex AFTV app. any Ideas?

Installed older version, in case it was a way this version of the app handles aac, but no joy. Really doesnt make a lot of sense to me.

Had resolced this last night by turing pass though back on in plex and forcing dolby dogital always, worked fine last night. Broken again this morning with the same settings.

issues is fixed. I bought an HDMI audio splitter to optical, then an optical to SPDIF converter for my sound system. then I have to force plex to passthrough optical, and set the supported format to AC3, now it auto transcodes everything to AC3 for 5.1 to work now… Plex really needs to sort their ■■■■ out. I shouldnt have to buy different equipment to get an app supported by the hardware to work as youd expect it to. Jeez. Rant over.
