AMD 5950x isn't enough cpu?

I’m not in need of a lot of streams but I want the best picture so I’d like my AMD 5950x to handle the transcoding. Switched off HW and it tells me it isn’t “powerful” enough?

What am I missing?

Are you perhaps transcoding video and burning subtitles (and transcoding audio)? A screenshot of the dashboard (with details expanded) will show what’s being transcoded to what. Some transcoding operations are single-threaded (I can’t remember which off the top of my head) and will not benefit from the extra cores.

Why did you switch off hardware transcoding?

I have an Asus AMD 6800XT LC GPU which isn’t ideal for transcoding HVEC so I want the CPU to handle that since it’s a 5850x 16/32 processor. Better quality.

since we’re getting the usual level of support here I bought a PNY P2000 to handle the HEVC files…
