An honest question from a frustrated user

Does anyone else wish the Plex developers would fix the many outstanding issues we have rather than spend all their time releasing new features that most of us dont care about?

We want Plex to work like it used to.

I’d appreciate this post to be answered by users only, not Plex people so we they can see our frustration…

Many many threads like this over the years. Won’t happen.

Plex has finally fixed every major and most minor issues that have any impact on my viewing. There are still some things that I wish was done differently but using my primary client (Roku) I can now view all my media exactly as I wish to and I almost never have any problem.

There is little more that I can ask Plex for.

The “new” features, that I do not want, are easy to ignore or turn off.

While it has taken Plex longer than I like to reach this point they are now there and I am becoming pretty content.

Of course there is always room for improvement and I wish things that are important to me, like true audiobook support, would be prioritized over the things I find useless, like live TV and DVR, but I understand that my desires do not represent most Plex users so I cannot expect my minority desires to override the majority. But I can wish.

I do find it amazing that people think they are more important than everyone else and really believe they are the sole judge of what is best for everyone.

I think asking for…

…is the most selfless act.

I use a bunch of client (PlexWeb, Samsung Plex App, Sony Opera App, Firestick Android, PS4, Samsung Galaxy S7, iPhone 7.0) and only PlexWeb and Samsung (dev. Orca) work well for most part. On all the other platforms there are always some major issue. Saying it works well on Roku is just being insensitive.

On top of that Plex Pass used to be a feature to get early releases of PMS to get early access to bugfixes and features. Now, I typically wait once a release has been a Public one, ensure on the forum its working well for most and only then update. It’s more like a guinea pig feature. I don’t think I’m the only one when I say my update Settings are “Ask me” and “Public channel”.

Plex has admitted that (Making Android Players Play) in their recent blog post as well so there is no denying that bugs do exist and I would for now feel better that they devote majority of their resources to squash them.

You understand the hypocrisy in your post right?

Because something works for you, everyone else thinks they are more important? Why, because they want the features that Plex rolled out and kept users invested in Plex to actually work? Like Live TV/DVR, which I guarantee gets more use than audiobooks. But people shouldn’t complain because features that promote the use of Plex aren’t working properly because you can still listen to your audiobooks?

I wish we all were as lucky as you.

My wife just discovered the new layout on Roku…

I’m going to guess it’s against the ToS to actually type the things she was saying here, so let’s just say that she didn’t like the change…
