An unexpected error is impacting the search bar

UPDATE: Working now. Not sure what happened. I guess posting here made it think it should behave… All I did this time was close and open it.

Server Version#: 1.29.0.6219-b1b4d4871 (64 bit beta)
Player Version#: 1.54.1.3264-9487fe9c

The search bar has an error icon :warning: and when clicked pops up the following error

There was an unexpected error

I have uninstalled and re-installed the player application and the error persists. The search bar is available in the web client with no issues.

Same issue. Windows 11 player, Linux/docker server.

Server version: 1.28.2.6151-914ddd2b3
Player version: 1.54.1.3264-9487fe9c

I see OP’s issue was fixed, mine is not - closing/reopening does not fix it.

It was the second or 3rd time I closed it and reopened it after uninstalling and reinstalling the player that it began working. I’m not confident that the problem won’t return. I’m not sure if I restarted the media server during all this but I wouldn’t think the server would be the issue since it wasn’t just on my server.

Getting this also.

Server 1.28.2.6151 (32 bit)
Player 1.54.2.3267-d35cd36f
Win 10 64 bit Version 21H2 build 19044.2006

EDIT: opened/closed the program multiple times, third time it came back but 4th time it gave the error again, etc.

Im having this issue in the last 24 hrs. Player/Client Version 1.28.2.6151
on MacOS 12.6. Occurring on both my up to date windows and Mac servers.
Ran the troubleshooting DB Optimize and clean bundles; No help. Have not
re-insalled the player client as I dont have confidence It will help based on what I’ve read here.

Looks like this

Seems completely random, sometimes it will work, other times it won’t.

Plex for Windows: Version 1.54.2.3267-d35cd36f

PMS Version 1.28.2.6151

Just wanted to throw in I’m also having it. Looks like it’s a wide spread issue.

I’m on Windows 10 Pro

I was having the same issue but exiting and relaunching PMS resolved it for me, for now at least.

Server 1.28.2.6151
Player 1.54.2.3267
Windows 11 Home 21H2 22000.978
(both server and player on this machine)

Mine started having the problem again. I restarted the app and it went back to working again.

I am also experiencing this same issue but only on one of my accounts if i switch accounts the search bar works with out issue, then i can switch back to the affected account and its search bar is now working as it should.

Add me to the list. PMS seems to be fine, as other computers can connect without the error. For me I am only affected on one computer. I have two others that are not affected.

I relaunched PMS. Once it went away for a few minutes, then the error came back.

All the same version.
Ver 1.54.2.3267-d35cd36f

I was hoping to find a simple solution…

having the same lame issue. Version 1.54.2.3267-d35cd36f, windows 11 pro. closing and reopening seems to be hit and miss but i can get the search bar to pop up like it should. atm it’s displaying the lil triangle with the “!”. not sure about windows 10 pro, haven’t seen the error yet using the same version of the plex player…

server Version 1.28.2.6151

Mine comes and goes. I should add I am on Windows 11 Home

Hmmmm… I guess I can add myself to the “comes and goes club”. Today it is working…

Spoke too soon. Not working again…

Same error here on at least one Windows 10 player installations.

I checked on another Win 10 machine, no error.
The machine that had this error has cleared it without intervention.

Restarting the server only clears the issue temporarily. No clue so far as to what triggers it, but it does appear to only affect the desktop application.

I’m having the same issue. I tried closing and re-opening the desktop app several times and still get the error. It was working great yesterday as I used it quite a lot. Today - nada.

Has anyone found a reliable way to reproduce the issue?

Did you change any of the preferences of the player app away from the default?

Do you have a particularly high number of shared servers?
Or no shared servers at all?

Are you using Live TV & DVR or not?

Did you disable any or all of the online media sources? https://app.plex.tv/desktop/#!/settings/online-media-sources
