Analyze working for detecting intros, but no longer video preview thumbnails

UPDATE - the manual Analyse I refer to in my previous post is only successful AFTER I stop PMS and then restart it, it will also then add thumbnails for new media when added for the next 24 hours (or so).
It is an absolute pain to start watching a recorded show on Roku then find there are no thumbnails, then have to log into the server (Synology) then stop and restart and then manually initiate a library Analyse just so I can watch a show - if another show is being recorded then stopping and restarting PMS is not an option.
All was working perfectly until this latest update.
Does Plex look/respond to posts on this forum or is it all just issues solved by users?

Updated to new PMS version 1.19.5.3112 STILL having the same issue - no fix with this new version.

I also have this issue. Not generating when new items are added. If the server has been started recently you can force it by hitting analyze or using the command line scanner with force, eventually forcing it through command line or hitting analyze doesn’t trigger it. Once I restart the server again and try it again through command line or analyze it will run, but it will not run when media is added or during scheduled tasks. Running on ubuntu server. 1.20.0.3133

I’ve tried toggling media index file creation on the library on and off, and resetting the scheduled tasks. Nothing really seems to help.

Not a lot to add except that I am also experiencing this problem as of late. I have also tried to work for us mentioned above and like then it would appear to be working for a short time and then fail after a few files.

This is purely non-technical speculation but I suspect the problem is in the analyze function, not the actual generation function, as I have also seen that analyzing a full library does not consistently update information on files that I have replaced with better person, but analyzing them individually does.

I have the same issue i have to analyze each file on its own for movies and each series for tv it doesnt seem to be doing it on the scheduled tasks neither thumbs or intros

UPDATE: I just selected a movie to analyze it done the thumbnail and chapters and then has carried on to do other films so for me making it do 1 manual film has coerced it into actually doing the scheduled task run…

@StSimm1
Would we be able to get this looked into? It seems to be affecting more people now than it did when this was originally posted.

Same issue here,manual thumbnail generation on works after I stop PMS and then restart it, it will then also add thumbnails for new media when added for a period of time, maybe a day or so. but the skip intro detection works all the time when new media added

I can confirm this is still occurring on 1.20.1.3213.

I reverted back to Version 1.19.3.2764 and thumbnails now working perfectly again, doesn’t have intro detection in this version but that seems to be the starting point of this issue for me

I also am having this issue. It happens with both manually added media and DVRd media. As stated above one workaround is to go to Settings/Library/Generate video preview thumbnails to never and save, then to scheduled and when media is added and save the setting. Following that, an Analyze will manually create the thumbnails. This is on version Version 1.19.5.3112. Any idea when we can see a fix?

@sa2000, would you be able to comment?

Is anyone still seeing this on the latest Version 1.20.1.3252 or just me? I didn’t see this on the fix list.

AFAIK it hasn’t even been re-acknowledged since the first time they pushed out a “fix”.

@amm350, so you’re still seeing it as well correct?

I’m still having this problem.

@davidbrenner1 yup :frowning:

Yep. Still happening. Really annoying.

Same here, updated to Version 1.20.1.3252 over the weekend and thumbnails still not generating automatically or with a manual analyse.
STILL only workaround that works for me is to shut PMS down and restart then a manual analyse is possible and it will then auto generate thumbnails until next scheduled task then thumbnail generation stops.
Would be nice if we could even get an acknowledgement of this issue from someone from Plex.

@sa2000, can you confirm is this is a known issue that is being worked on?
