Generate video preview thumbnails/Generate intro video markers normally turned on “as a scheduled task and when media is added”
Recently I was adding a lot of media, so I set the option to only run as a scheduled task so that it didn’t kill my CPU right away.
After adding my media, all seemed well and it has been added and is showing up in my plex as needed, however when switching the setting back to "“as a scheduled task and when media is added”, then running Analyze on the new libraries or individual items, it does not generate anything as expected.
I used to do this many versions ago when I would add a lot of media at the same time, and it would always generate the thumbnails and do the intro analysis right away after selecting Analyze, but it no longer seems to function as it once did.
Adding new media after turning these settings back on DOES generate the thumbnails and markers as expected right away.
Am I missing an angle/step here that I have overlooked to force the thumbnails and analysis to take place as I expected?
I had the exact same problem. When I analyzed the library, multiple shows or even one show at a time nothing happened
Apparently, this is intentional
It was a long time ago but if I recall correctly, analyzing the season or an individual episode does work at least for intro detection. I don’t have thumbnail generation enabled
I just tried it at the season level and individual items, and it worked!
Looking at the dates on your referenced post, it looks like this has been in place or was put in place after the last time I tried it in bulk (have been running Plex for many many years now).
I really appreciate the quick reply and the heads up on this “feature”. I will not worry, and just work around the issue as you provided.
