Android Downloads Location

What is the default directory for Downloads (not Sync) on Android Mobile?

With the new Downloads feature turned on, I am able to download from my server to my Pixel 3 without issue. However, once downloaded to my device, I am unable to locate the files using my phone’s file browser.

I am aware that when using Sync, these files are inaccessible (at least on an unrooted device) but I suppose I assumed that part of the reason for the transition from Sync to Downloads would be to make these files accessible (something historically requested by many users.

Same as mobile sync, downloading does not expose the file on your local file system or makes them available to other apps (if that’s what you’re asking for).

As you pointed out, there’s a feature request asking for that.

🤦

Thank you for confirming my suspicion. An absolute drop of the ball to continue to keep these files hidden, IMO.

In the Downloads settings, I selected external storage as my storage location. Consequently, I am able to find my downloads at Android/data/com.plexapp.android/files/media_parts on my external SD card. I have rooted my phone so viewing these files may only be possible if you are rooted.

If you save to external storage like an sd card, you can view the files. You don’t need to be rooted.
