Android Mobile App Does Not Allow Selecting Between Editions — Only Versions

Server Version#: 4.158.0
Player Version#: 2026.2.0

Hi all. I am noticing that the new Android mobile app does not surface editions the way the old one used to. I have multiple editions of the same title with suffixes like {edition-Director’s Cut} on the file names. When the scanner picks them up, it identifies the edition information and populates the Edition field for each item.

In the Android mobile app, I see one title with an edition tag, but no menu, long press, or other action lets me get to the other editions of the title. The only way I can get there on Android mobile is to go into my library, apply the duplicate filter, see all my “duplicates” (which are really director’s cuts, Criterion editions, etc.), and choose a different edition. There is no way from within a title to get to another edition beyond the one the client (randomly?) chose.

In the web player, I can navigate into a title and choose from any of the editions by scrolling to the bottom of one edition and choosing the other ones that are displayed there.

Versions (encodes for specific use cases) are also easy to get at from the web client, and seem to work in the Android mobile app as well. I know they have a different purpose, but it’s interesting to me that Versions work on Android mobile but Editions do not.

While I have a workaround in the duplicates filter, it requires several steps and is a step back from what we once had with the old client.

I didn’t see any other topics that matched this exactly, so apologies if I am duplicating an existing thread. Thank you for any help.

Multiple Editions – Movies

Each edition should be listed as a separate movie, not combined like version. There is no menu, long press, etc.

/movies
  /Blade Runner (1982) {edition-Director's Cut}
    /Blade Runner (1982) {edition-Director's Cut}.mkv
  /Blade Runner (1982) {edition-Final Cut}
    /Blade Runner (1982) {edition-Final Cut}.mkv

Collections

You can also combine Editions with Collections.

The collection poster will appear in the Library. When you open it, you see all the movies in the collection.

Thanks for that - I do see each individual item in the Library>Browse view without filtering, so that’s one less tap and something I didn’t notice. Collections can emulate the way editions display on other platforms, so that’s also a great tip. I just wish there was a way to access editions from within the title itself. Desktop experience (I don’t see a way to do this on Android Mobile):

Edit: Here’s the mobile view. The three dot menu doesn’t provide a way to get what I see at the bottom of the browser screenshot, nor does anything else I am trying.

EDIT: Took another look. I see what you mean. There is no “Other Editions Of…” section like in Plex Web.

EDIT 2: I’ve all the editions in the collection, so they still appear in the mobile app.

Does the combination of Editions and Collections work for you?

If not, maybe we can figure something out that will.

I see other editions on my phone.

I opened Blade Runner Final Cut and scrolled down. I see the other items in the collection listed below the cast/crew and extras sections.

I think that’s showing the collection (e.g., “Blade Runner Collection”) and not native “Editions” functionality, but it’s my best option and, for my library, not that much effort. It would be nice to have it automagically, but collections are manageable. Thanks!
