well since i last updated the android plex client things have changed.
it used to play files, change the bit rate it would pause for a sec or so then start playing again … great
now i change it stops and says there is a error, if i am at anything lower than 1.5 , it does not start says there has been a error and goes back to the plex menu. whats going on ?
I had this issue for months with no solution from Plex Ninja’s.
Sent all my logs in with no resolution.
The fix for me was to use the experimental player.

found a answer to it by trying diffrent things
so got it down to
well i am having the same problem
go to the settings/advanced in the app and unselect direct play, then settings/ video change it so it plays it with “use android video player”(tick it)
then should start playing videos again…

When playing at 1.5 or above is the media being DIRECT PLAYED? And if you drop to anything lower than 1.5 does plex try and transcode the media?
If so you may not have enough free HDD space on your server to transcode the media.
The directory used for transcode temp files (whether default or not) needs sufficient free space, roughly equal to the size of the source file of the transcode plus 100MB.

in direct play over wifi seems to play fine
it when it is on 3g/4g with reduced bit rate set
it just comes up with there was a error restart plex etc
the server is dedicated to plex and has over 100 gig free
i do not use the phone much normally use the shield tv with direct play on wifi and that is still working fine
