Android Sync Problems

Can’t accept that. How am I going to sync ~1100 files step-by-step? That is insane!

@MarcoKliko i am totaly with you!
@“MovieFan.Plex” Any news on the timeline when this will be fixed? Let me know if you need further logs or anything to speed up the process.

Yep, I’m also willing to root the phone for some logcat stuff if it would help.

No need for more info guys. We are looking into it. It appears to be basically the device running out of memory during the sync process for these huge lists. I don’t think it was considered that someone might want to sync their entire 100GB music library in 1 go.

Is that “the only bug” you guys found? Because I also have trouble syncing about 10 movies and a dozen TV shows episodes. Should I gather logs?

Always expect the unexpected. Lol

Snap - I can’t reliably sync anything to my phone, even a single episode of a TV show. If I jump through various uninstall / reinstall hoops I can sometimes get it to work once, then it all dies again. Not impressed, glad I didn’t buy an annual subscription…

Hehe, well I’ve got at least 2 use cases to sync my entire music library: keeping it with me when I travel (device in my laptop bag) and keeping an old tablet/phone in my car  why pay for cell phone data charges when I’ve got the space (or buying the space is cheaper than a month of cell data service)

Looks like the sync stuff is fixed in 6.5.0.1820, correct? At least, I had to resync everythin because it couldn’t find my libs anymore after a (beta) update. Resynced everything, now going to 100%. If it is fixed we can maybe close this topic then…

My app is still v6.4.1.1644 and no update in the queue (yet) - how did you get version 6.5?

6.5 is the Beta version.

Plex Android 6.4.1.1644 running on Pixel, Android 8.0.0
“Updating information” for a full day, log snippet follows.
Plenty of “plex app closed”.
Is this in a loop?
Please send Plex Android 6.5!

Please send Plex Android 6.5!

You need to provide the entire log. This does mention an issue accessing your internal Plex database, but that may not be why your syncs don’t work.

I have (just) sent the logs in PM.

Got the logs. They show similar problems I found for another user. Did you possibly rename or delete a library that you were trying to sync before? This was what I found for the other user who had a similar log. The sync was stuck in a loop looking for a synced item in a library that doesn’t exist. Unfortunately, the only fix we found was to start the app over from scratch by clearing the App Data.

No, no change on the server. I finally got fed up, cleared the App Data and
started over.

Then 6.5 came out. It made my partially reloaded library disappear! Sync status showed downloaded data,
but the Library was not made available. I added another item to be synced, it came across, but still no library!

The 6.5 update and loose your library feature happended on 2 devices.

I have started again from scratch on 6.5

Just tried out 6.5 but still have the same problem - when i try to sync my entire library it simply stops at some point and you have to push “sync” again and again and again…

@“MovieFan.Plex” When will this be fixed? Please let me know if you need any logs or whatever to speed up the process - i am more than happy to help with testing if i can get the sync working

No news. We believe that the problem is just that the Sync routine was not intended for really large Sync jobs like what you are trying. It’s in our todo list to review Sync and make updates to the logic, which should help with your use case. But I have no information on when that may happen. For now, I would just suggest breaking your Sync jobs into smaller ones instead of 1 for your entire music library.

@“MovieFan.Plex” Any update on when this might be resolved? This is a huge issue for new devices, and one I’ve been wrestling with for years. I can’t really recommend this app to my friends while this bug remains unresolved.

Problem unfortunatelly still exists :frowning:
Server Version: 1.13.2.5102
Android Version: 7
Plex App Version: 7.0.2.5441

@“MovieFan.Plex” - is there any update on the timeline, when this will be fixed?

It is incredible frustrating to see new features being released like VR, News… and major bugs like this not being fixed for over two years(!)
