Android TV 5.1 audio on Sony TV status?

Just a quick one for Sony Android TV users!

What’s the status today for 5.1/7.1 audio output on Sony Android TV models via Plex application and optical audio out port? Does it finally work? Does it require HDMI ARC to be plugged in for the Plex player to recognize it? Any other hint?

I am considering to buy Sony KD85XG8596 TV and it’s a dealbreaker for me if the Plex player does not output multichannel sound over optical out. I don’t want an external streaming box. Please advise!

I have a XF9005 with the last updates from sony and PLEX can play DD and DTS core (DTS HD will be played as DTS) without issues using ARC Passthrough.
