Hey there,
I recently bought a Xiaomi Mi TV Box 3 and been using Plex to stream content from my computer onto my TV.
I read that the Nvidia Shield Pro acts both as a Plex Media Server and also as a Plex Media Player. This allows people to access their content from any device without having to keep their PC turned on all the time. The content is streamed from the Shield itself - a standalone device that acts as a Plex Media Server. This is purely ingenious!
Why cannot the same dual framework (i.e. both server and player on the same android device) be a possibility for other android boxes (in this case, Mi TV Box 3)?
Not all can afford $299 to buy the Nvidia Shield.
During my research, I found that some experienced developers have setup a Plex Media Server on a Raspberry Pi 3 motherboard which runs on linux. Link: https://www.amazon.com/Raspberry-Pi-RASP-PI-3-Model-Motherboard/dp/B01CD5VC92
So, simplifying this and making it available as a Plex Media Server apk that works on any Android TV Box, should be a possibility.
I apologize if such feature already exists and I am unaware of it. If yes, please do share the link.
Otherwise, would like to understand what you guys think of this.
