Screen elements do not move like they do when casting from the Plex app (album art and text remains in the same place). Aside form being visually uninteresting, this can also cause screen burn-in on some TV’s.
The moving art on the CC is the screen saver. The regular Plex app should use your TV’s regular screensaver too.
There is no moving art or screen saver when playing music on Android Tv. At least not that i have seen.

My NVidia Shield has a screensaver that kicks in after 20 minutes. I don’t have a TV to check. You sure there are no screen saver settings for the TV itself?
Yes the shield hasa screen saver, but that’s not what I’m requesting. I still want to see what is playing on Plex, not a blank screen.
When casting from your phone, the album art and text change places every so often. I would like to see this same behavior when playing through the Android Tv app.

That’s a built-in Chromecast feature. So you basically want a Plex screen saver to mimic the CC feature. There are already several feature requests for Plex to include a screen saver. I would search and see if any of those are what you want and just vote there instead of spreading out the requests.
I’m not using Chromecast. I’m using an app on Android tv. Two separate things. Not using my phone at all for this.
I don’t think it’s a screensaver… The screen should still be interactive even though the elements move around. It’s hard to compare it to Chromecast because that doesn’t have a remote control.

I can confirm that the picture is static, when I play music on my Shield. Not using casting.
I consider that a bug.

Also starting to see screen burn-in now from the static album-art specially on our plasma. To prevent further damage I’ve stopped using our Shield for music playback till this is resolved.
From memory Apple TV just have the album art sliding from one side to the other every 10 seconds or so, I’d be happy with that for now but agree moving forward it would be nice to have for example artist/album information relevant news etc displayed.
I also would like a « now playing » screen for music like the one from the Chromecast Plex App with the following features :
- not static to prevent burning
- next track information
- album and artist information
- progress bar

I didn’t find this topic easily
I know I keep going on about this topic, but it’s just super annoying. I don’t think I’ve used any new Plex feature for the last 3 years, and as a dev myself, this would take me much less than a day to code and test. I just want the TV to show me what track is playing, even a progress bar would stop the TV screen shutting down. It’s a 1990s feature. I love Plex, but I just use it for managing my personal collection, all the new streaming features added mean nothing to me, but this one, tiny feature would be huge. To me…
Same here! My biggest wish is for an Android TV interface. I absolutely hate that I have to use my phone to use Plexamp.
