Hi, I’m getting an error when running this, I’m not really good at this so I’m guessing here. But is it a python related issue maby?

I then uninstalled and reinstalled via your new link as for whatever reason clicking install from within plex did nothing from within plex media center.

Here the agent prints the filename given to it from Plex via the attribte media.filename and media.filename seems to be None or "nothing". For some reason Plex doesn't set the filename correctly, and that's something handled outside of the agent. Perhaps other changes were made in the framework that I don't know about. Try asking on the general forum or on the scanner forum.

You seem to be having the same problem as Quicksmage, not sure what's causing it. For some reason Plex doesn't set the filename of the media. I'll see if I can add fix it so that it falls back to search-by-name if filename is None.

Well, I don't have much else to offer at the moment, I'm off for another week of no computer, but try asking on the media server forum and see if Elan or any of the Plex devs can help out. I tried editing the file under AniDB.bundle, DefaultPrefs.json, now I cant get AniDB to come up in the agents view, is there a step by step, this forum seems to be full of expert speak. Windows 7.

I had the same issue as you previously. It didn’t matter how I installed it or how how many times I initiated the service to try to get it to show the file.



What I ended up doing while searching for hours was copying someone’s file. They had posted a screenshot of it for whatever reason so I simply created it myself and put my login information inside. voila, it worked.



create a file in notepad with the following contained

username

password





save this file as com.plexapp.agents.anidb.xml make sure it doesn’t add .txt at the end or w/e and obviously replace username and password with your anidb user credentials.



I don’t know if the above is a windows only problem, but if it is the creator should put the above info in the original post.

yes, as MJPs has shown from a previous post, this is normal. To use it for a specific scrape simply right click on one of your media and select match using >> AniDB or ‘fix incorrect match’. once you click on fix incorrect match, click on custom search and set it to AniDB and fill in the info. It should then give you a list to choose from for the media you searched.



You can also use it for an entire media section. When you add the media section make sure to click on advanced and set it to use AniDB. Hope that helped.

That's normal. What you're doing on that screen is enabling *other* agents to contribute to Plex's metadata. Doesn't make sense for AniDB to contribute to itself so it's greyed out.

It needs to be the primary metadata agent for the section. Assuming you've got a section created in your PMS manager, open the section you created for your anime TV/Movies, click Edit Session, then on the box that pops up, hit 'Advanced' and change your Primary Metadata Agent to AniDB. If you are watching shows with > 100 episodes eg Bleach, Naruto, Fairy Tail, One Piece and so on, you will also probably want to install the BABS scanner (search the forums) and select it there instead of the Plex Series Scanner, because Plex's built in one will assume that Episode 100 is Episode 00 of Season 1, and things go haywire. :(



@Quiksmage/MJPs: You are both having the same issue from the looks of it. How have you set up the section you're using for anime? Which scanner? Are you using AniDB as the primary agent? The particularly interesting thing about your case is here:

So you can see that the parameters being passed into the agent lookup in your case is extremely sparse - just a show name and plex's internal ID. In my case I get episode number, season, filename, duration and some extra hashes. The exception you're seeing is because that filename's not being passed in at all. Perhaps if you're both on the same platform and both using BABS, it's actually a Windows-specific BABS problem?

Could you try creating a section using BABS and the TVDB agent? Also if that works, a section with the Plex Series Scanner and AniDB agent? That way we can try and narrow down whether the problem is AniDB or BABS or something else entirely. It's cool for your test section to contain just one folder with one episode of a show, just make sure it's something mid-series like ep 2+, and something that TVDB would be expected to match. Not sure if the TVDB agent uses the filename, it might just assume no episode = episode 1 so if it mis-numbers things that'd be a pretty good indication it's broken :)

I'll try setting up PMS on windows and see if I can reproduce the problem too.

Have you guys tried updating to the newest Plex Media Server? 0.9.6.6 is out. Maybe there's something lingering that's been partially updated.

BABS works with TVDB fine for me. It is specific to Anidb. The log I made was me right clicking on an item and clicking fix incorrect match and searching from there. So my search was looking for a show name, not necessarily a episode, etc.

My current plex media server is 0.9.6.3. Installing 0.9.6.6-b75secf4 now.

upon installing the latest version I will now create a new media entry under tv shows using BABS as the scanner and Anidb as the agent.

Turns out.....success! at least in this instance

as you see when I initially hit the fix incorrect match option it brings up a initial search of fate/zero II which actually goes through. However every search I personally initiate does NOT work and shows errors that seem to be the same as the previous errors.


Things that are fixed:
1.I can now match a show using Anidb
2.I can use the "match using" dialogue on the context menu

Things unfixed:
1.I cannot make a custom search in the "fix incorrect match" using anidb.

Would you mind making a log of you doing those actions Atomicstrawberry?
Simply right clicking anything you've scraped before, going to custom search, and initiating a search for anything using anidb as the agent. Thetvdb works fine in this instance for me. I checked in multiple sections.

Re-reading the first post (- Search is done firstly by file hash) makes me think that it never had the ability to do custom searches that I'm mentioning , but I swear I can recall making these searches with anidb. If the scraper doesn't have this ability then we can consider the issue resolved =P.
