Anime naming suggestions for Kai edition

Hi all,
I tried looking online and search in the forum but couldn’t find something precise.

I have Naruto Kai. Many episodes in one file, and some episode skipped. I’m looking for the right naming convention to be able to find them correctly in Plex, I currently don’t have the full Naruto (not Kai) but why not someday.

So, on Plex KB, I see that different editions aren’t yet supported, but I could still name the show “Naruto {edition-Kai}” and every episode like “Naruto {edition-Kai}/Season 01/Naruto - s01e01-e06 - {edition-Kai}.mkv” and simply skip the non existant episodes (if 26 doesn’t exist, I’ll have s01e20-e25, then s01e27-e30 for instance).

Would it be the right way to do it? Is it better to put the Kai episodes in the same directory as the normal one but with the right name instead of a completely different parent name?

What are your thoughts and advices in this situation please ?

Since there is an official (TVDB) Naruto and a “Kai” edition, it would make the most sense to name and keep separately (Naruto Kai).

You could then add your own posters, etc

There is no edition support for TV shows in Plex.

I may be blind, but I don’t see a Kai edition on TVDB, could you point it to me please?

Of course, if there is an official “kai” it’s better to stick to it. But I like the Seasons of the original show (generally speaking, Kai are supposed to group episodes in theme or arcs, or period, not just packing them unrelated, so they should still respect the original season division)

That’s what I mention in my first post. I’m looking for an efficient way to name them, regarding future of Plex (is support for TV Shows coming?) and eventually tips from you guys with more experience in library management.

Apparently, Naruto Kai is an unofficial restructuring of the Naruto series. https://narutokai.gitlab.io/
Since it doesn’t exist even as an alternate episode ordering on TheTVDB.com there is no way to add it to Plex and get metadata for it.
All you could do is to create it as a custom TV show without metadata.

There is NO “KAI” edition

Sorry for any confusion.

I still recommend creating as if a separate series (Naruto Kai).
You can then create a custom TV show as Otto suggests.

I ended up following TMDB for seasons separations, and let it in the same directory as the normal Serie

Since I don’t have the normal serie yet anyway, it doesn’t matter. But if I have it in the future, then I will place Kai in season 99 and place the non Kai normally.

Actually, to me, it’s more a matter of multi-episodes files issue than an edition one. First, I think the edition support may come one day or another, and as Kai is mainly multi-episodes, the problem is to choose the multi episode file or the 1 episode file in case they were in the same directory.
