Another Green Screen - Some players, some titles

Hi all, first post - love the product, shame I’m breaking the ice with a problem post.

I’ve got a problem with some titles playing back with just a green screen and audio in the background. It’s a TV show (The Prisoner) and we watched the first couple of episodes (long time ago) but now we can’t play any of the episodes. There have been many updates to Plex since.

They play ok on my (Android) phone and VLC can play the files fine, but just get the green screen over ROKU and using the web (Chrome on any PC on the home network).

Other TV shows all seem to play fine, including a couple that seem to be in the same format (576i MPEG2VIDEO as per the screen on the web). Does this prove the codecs are ok (which was a suggestion on another post?)

I’ve tried uninstalling and reinstalling Plex on the NAS (please don’t suggest that again as I lost all my viewed / unviewed records).

I’ve seen a few topics here about it but nothing seems to quite match my problem (ie it’s only specific shows, including some that used to work).

I’m open to suggestions, I’ve not logged a support call yet - thought there might be someone here who’d know the answer straight away.

Thank you Tony

Tony, Would you mind telling us more technical information?

We really need to know the following:

  1. QNAP model and QTS version
  2. PMS Version
  3. The XML of what you’re trying to play and seeing the problem with (Hover over it -> Get Info -> View XML)
  4. Best to add are the log files (DEBUG logging only, not VERBOSE) after a playback attempt (to capture any errors which show up during playback

Hi Chuck, thanks for the response. Here you go, let me know if I’ve misinterpreted anything.

  1. It’s a QNAP TS-453A, with QTS 4.3.4.0597 Build 20180528
  2. Running PMS Version 1.13.2.5154
