Hi guys. Any idea what I can check about this?
I use a Mac mini for our PMS. Been fine for ever. But recently multiple times a day the fans kick in so loud because the plex media scanner is using 100% cpu. If I force quit the scanner then the fans quiet down and the Mac returns to normal.
My schedules are for 11pm to finish at 5am but the scanner seems to come in multiple times in the day.
Any idea what to check?
This is driving us mad now!
Every day, multiple times we have to remote on the server and force quit the media scanner to get the cpu down from 100% and quiet the fans.
I’ve tried everything I can think of and find online.
I have generated logs but I don’t understand them. There’s a few in there for the media scanner server so I’ve read though them and there are a few bits like “WARN … has died of old age, ignoring”
“ERROR, PlexRelay key protocol type 7 seq 11”
There also seems to be lots of errors with chapter thumbnails
So I’ve just turned off making chapter thumbnails on schedule and see if that helps.
If it does, any idea how to work out what thumbnail is messing this up or how to reset thumbnails?
