Anyone else absolutely hate the new Plex Web 3.0 update?

Yes i know you can use the apps (they all have them) they prefered the web UI as it “was” easier and quicker to navigate around for them.

Another family checks in with their opinion that the new apps SUCK!

And now the level of SUCK has just been increased in the last sane holdout - Plexweb.
(you may want to check out PMP - they haven’t screwed that up… yet - top of forum/downloads/get an app)

The “looks” of the new UI is nice and modern.
The usage… not as much.

One thing I really don’t like is the fact that if you choose to display the movie/show artwork, then all relevant info/links go way down and I have to scroll to actually access the videos.
Any new UI that makes it more difficult to make use its main feature (play video) and not advanced ones, it kind of not working.

So now I have chosen not to display any artwork. Considering I had chosen hundreds of them myself, this really bugs me.

Honestly if they would fix the background art issue and the screen real estate issue, it would be an upgrade, but as it sits now, the 3.0.0 web interface is junk.

Today I helped a friend set up a new Plex install and I discovered, much to my surprise, that the new web interface made the set up and verifying/fixing matches and applying special tags for grouping and removing/adapting the worthless genera that Plex often includes much faster.

To put it another way: Most of the bothersome behaviors of the old interface are gone in this one and a lot of the tools are better implemented.

As far as the color or background issues that others are mentioning goes I have found that a simple implementation of “Stylish” fixes the color issue and I do not even notice what is in the background as the only task I use the web for in Plex maintenance.

As I kind of expected, after using the new interface for a pretty major task I now like it, mostly. The size of mouse movements are a bit too large and you too often need to move over half the screen to get from where you are to where you need to be but those are minor annoyances when combined with the improvements I have seen.

On this change I now have to say, “Good job Plex.” If we could get this level of improvement in the clients I think the complaints would drop dramatically.

It would be really great if the interface was able to adapt to “small” screens like the one of my iphone 5S

I just wish @astrofisher would quit messing around with dark blue and make a black one. Then if we could see the installs we could find out just how much the Plex/Chrome community LOVES the new background.

LOL

Overall I like the new interface but I’m not at all a fan of the way artwork is handled now… so I wrote a script that fixes it.

Nice work! I’m going to give it a try

Tried it out, and I’m upgrading my previous comment from, nice work, to way cool, now I can turn Art Work back on

Thank you @uzegonemad for making this

Must be the same team behind this who also “redesigned” PMP from PHT. At least they’re consistent in making Plex worse throughout the ecosystem.

Yawn… time for a cup of Tea.

While the new interface may look nice, its functionality is a bit ‘odd’ to say the least. When in a TV Series folder, I am now presented with a group of icons(dvd covers) which now default to playing S01E01. WTF!?!?!?! Clicking on the icon in prior versions would dig down one level , and so on, until we reach the actual episodes. I don’t mind seeing trailers and more actor info, but the rudimentary stuff should not change, IMHO. Switch it back please.

Not my experience. If I click on a TV Show icon i get to a page where there are all the seasons covers, if I click a season cover I get to a page where there are all the episodes. Instead, if I click on the “play” icon of a season cover it start playing the next unwatched episode as expected

The more I use it, the more I think this interface has been made with touch in mind.
You have to move your cursor around like crazy compared to before.
Which is not the same issue in a touch based interface.

What do you think ?
of course… As I am on a mac, I am not that thrilled that touch drives the UI of an app I use daily.

Another thing… now when you scroll up or down, you have to wait a few seconds before the covers appear.
It seems to me as this was MUCH faster.
Furthermore, now it won’t actually load the covers until you stop scrolling.
Usability is going backwards here…
