Hi all. I really want a dedicated Plex Server that can handle transcoding 3 simultaneous streams of at least 1080p (20Mbit/s each or even original quality). Ideally I want this to be handled by a NAS device with 2 bays. I believe both Synology and QNAP have devices that would easily handle this if only Plex decided to add support for hardware transcoding.
Has Plex at any point even hinted if they would work on this? Or if they would even make their own device with hardware transcoding? It seems so silly to invest in a monster PC with an I7 Quad Core CPU, purely for the Plex Server. So many Plex Pass customers could save tons of money if only Plex would go all the way and start supporting hardware transcoding in some form. I know they just released for the Nvidia Shield and that was definately a move in the right direction, but from what I can tell it won’t be powerful enough for many people.
