Apple tv 4 - speed up changing of channels?

Is there anything that can be done to speed up loading channels in apple tv? Its taking ~10 seconds to load channels (in europe with a mix of mpeg4 and mpeg2 channels). Plex will never be a runner for live tv in my household and i’m sure the same for others if this cant be improved.

If you’re using a HDHomeRun, you can try other Apple TV apps like VLC, InstaTV and Channels which can stream directly from the tuner and start playback in less than a second.

I don’t know how to pair hdhomerun with vlc. How do I get the signal to vlc on the apple tv? The other two apps you mentioned do this automatically

In the VLC app there’s a Network section which lists DLNA devices like the hdhomerun.
