I have 2 apple TV’s, both a 4K versions (A1842). One has 32Gb with TVOS 14.7 and the second has 64Gb with TVOS 15.0. Plex player is the same version on each, which is the latest. I can play a 1080p movie with AC3 5.1 Sound through Plex on the 32Gb version no problem, but on the 64Gb apple TV, the picture plays but no sound is heard on the same movie. Both are set to play at Maximum under the Plex player Video Quality–>home streaming, however if I change the settings on the one that doesn’t play AC3 5.1 to Video Quality–>home streaming to 3Mbps, 720 HD, the sound will play. this has to be a bug with Plex because the same movie can play on the 64mb Apple TV through other video players without incident. Any help appreciated.
Have you updated Plex on the one running tvOS beta
There was a fix released yesterday.
I know you said you’re on latest. But please double check.
And the issue was confined to tvOS 15 which explains having no issues on the other device.
Hey Hitsville, you are 100% right. The Plex client on the TVOS beta wasn’t updated to 7.22. As soon as I did that, AC3 5.1 sound was working perfectly. Thanks for your help.
