Apple TV - Subtitle lines are reversed - Bug affects iOS

Server Version#: 1.23.2.4600
Player Version#: 7.18.1(1572)

When there are two lines for subtitles, the first spoken line is on the very bottom, then the next line is above that.
I saw an older related post with the same problem: The subtitle lines are upside down

Any ideas here?

Gah… this is so annoying. In general I feel like subtitles should be easier to adjust as well…

Can you .zip up a problematic subtitle file and share it, along with a timestamp and some example text that’s backwards (for searching)?

The subtitles seem to be embedded (or were fetched automatically - not sure where they’d be stored in that case). I noticed just now when testing on my Mac that they are working fine (in the correct order). So it seems to be a problem exclusive to the iOS app (including AppleTV, iOS, iPadOS).

Screenshot here from Mac (in Safari), and from iOS (Plex app).

I’m just curious myself, and would like to look at the file and subtitle file to see if there’s any obvious formatting issues. Or perhaps I can help suggest how to fix the files, if they’re malformed.

If there’s an issue Plex folks can fix, they’ll probably need sample files that exhibit the problem.

Also, ewww. Whatever is left in his/her mouth. Yuck.

I saw post in another this other topic: Plex on Apple TV ignores own subtitle style - #8 by BigWheel

I tested disabling the “Override Subtitle Styles” on iOS and it fixed the problem. So it seems to be something to do with that setting being enabled breaking things.

This is a workaround though, not the actual solution to the problem - there are definitely some bugs involved with that setting being enabled.

Haha, yeap
