Apple TV: Unwatched indicators totally gone in Library: Folders view

I saw there was some update that changed how watched indicators are used. Well, I can no longer see any unwatched indicators when browsing my personal media files through the Plex app on my AppleTV. I tried toggling around the “Watched Indicators for Personal Media” setting, but to no avail.

The only way I can see if an episode is unwatched or has been watched now is to go right to the details page. That really stinks–this reminds me of when Spotify got rid of the liked-song indicator for 6+ months (until they finally brought it back, but as a plus sign instead of a heart).

i know it’s a different device, but my Nvidia shield has the same issue. unwatched counter in the corner gone. there last night, gone today. Still see the count on the windows player.

I actually discovered that there is an ongoing thread about this here: Watched Checkmark VS Unwatched Orange Corner - #221 by MSBunick

Apparently the Android version is being fixed, but they are not bringing back UNwatched indicators (because why not make an application harder to use by doing away with one of the most basic UI features?).

It has been such a pain to watch a playlist that I created just prior to the recent updates to the watched/unwatched indicators. I am now having to see what the last episode we watched was one of 3 shows that play off each other with crossovers (Chicago Fire, PD & Med) and then scroll forever to find that episode and then remember to press play rather than just select the one on the playlist that is next. This is on the Apple TV 4th Gen HDs.

Please make this a priority as it is a bug and would help on mine and my wife’s peace of mind in watching a show series that we have gotten into. We also have Roku TVs and the issue isn’t seen there.

I came here to report this same Issue.
When im browsing Folders of my yoga Videos it no longer shows which videos I have watched, exactly as your picture shows, there is no tick beside the title anymore on Apple TV. Plex web app for my Mac shows if the item has been watched, but the Apple TV app no longer shoes which items have been watched.

tvOS software version: 17.6

The next Plex on tvOS (8.39) should have a fix for this.

What about bringing back the yellow colour for the watched/unwatched indicator rather than black? I used to love the yellow.
