I have not experienced the issue described above. My 4K UHD movies are all saved in MKV format. I have the new 4K AppleTV and my plex server is on a Synology 916+ NAS. My tv is a Sony 65" 950H 4K TV. All my Plex 4K movies play with same lighting and image quality as from the 4K bluray disk.
