lol, and exactly how does one provide logs from the AppleTV? you don’t. but i also am using .MKV files and up to date on the PMS. even tried a fresh VM PMS and still get the dark play. I’m happy that some people are NOT experiencing this issue. but many have posted here that are, and we would like a fix. I even reached out to the Plex Employee’s who post to the “Plex for AppleTV” area and got no response.

There is no client that logs cannot be pulled for.

im not trying to be sarcastic! however as i have and others have posted this is a model specific problem with AppleTV and as it is a proprietary device we cant get logs from it. but thank you.
idk, I just bough Infuse and it has none of the problems. Not only that, but the random judder/frame skipping that I sometimes see with Plex on Apple TV prompting a reboot of the Apple TV, I don’t see the same thing on Infuse. Might just have to use Infuse full time now. I love Plex, but my experience with it on Apple TV since 3rg gen has been hit or miss.

Tried playing lord of the rings: fellowship of the ring in 4k, no issues on infuse, Plex plays dark.

i am seeing the same issue. when i force SDR in the setting it seems to be at a very low frame rate visually, but is ok. in HRD mode its very dark.

lack of dev response has caused me to jump ship to emby. its awesome! solved all problems without any effort. as a lifetime plex pass account holder, i am very disappointed in the support here and am leaving my account behind. sunk cost. economics 101.

Many did, many stayed with Emby and many came back to Plex.

I’ve tried emby when I was despondent with Plex. If you think Plex is bad wait till you hit issues with emby

Agreed but that said I appreciate that people will have different levels of patience.
It’s obviously a huge issue for those that see it, like yourself (fortunately I don’t seem to be one of them) and to be fair no Plex staff seem to have picked up on this thread yet.
Two sets of logs have been supplied so I’m gonna shamelessly ping @DaveBinM to see if he can have this looked into.

well im not getting rid of plex. im pass for life, so hopefully they fix this!

yup! and what really sucks is it’s new behavior. i watched endgame 100s of times last year just fine… but now its dark and choppy with 0 changes on my side

Just wasn’t sure if it only had issues with certain movies and I had just made lucky choices with ones I tested.
Though as I said I’m not affected I’m gonna keep tabs on this thread.
Dave who I tagged is really good. I’m sure he will be able to look at or pass on the logs when he’s online.
Hope you guys get a fix soon.

it is choppy and so dark it’s nearly black when i view on apple tv plex app. with emby on apple tv it plays perfectly.
