AppleTV plays DARK

This sounds a feasible prospect and why the hardware connected either does or doesn’t see this issue.

we are both good! but let start by saying my apologies on the AppleTV log thing! i looked at the post for that and at the time (my browser or the forum) didnt give a link to the “how to”. but i see it now and will work on that ASAP and again if someone has a place i can upload a 40TB file for FULL testing instead of a RIP let me know.

Its all good.

Are your files hosted locally or in the cloud.

local. my PMS is about 130TB and growing. :face_with_head_bandage:

Yeah been there and done that😂.
So I’m assuming at that size they are 4K encodes or 4K remuxes? 40TB is kinda low end remux or high end encode.

Also if I disappear I’m in the UK and it’s getting late. I will be back.

I’ll go ahead and assume you mean 40gb file and not a 40tb file :stuck_out_tongue:

Lol. Far too tired. Yeah 40GB.
Since Google drive storage I tend to talk in TB’s mostly

ya 40GB, lol man 40TB must be a Marvel movie, lol

40TB is a fraction of my Gdrive storage.
When 4K HDR became a thing is when I gave up on local storage. :joy:

ya I hear that. I do a lot of server stuff and got myself a nice 16-Bay Synology. what i need is a storage unit for the physical content. lol

Jeez. How much did that set you back?
I did love my Synology a while back.

$5k plus drives. but i use it for VMs, PMS and other things. it replaced 8 other machines.

Nice.

I got as far as 10 drives varying from 8-14TB and decided £8 a month worked better…at least for now.

I’m happy to share my server temporarily to see if you still have the Dark issue.
Anything I can do to help you troubleshoot.

Hi there,

This is a bit of a sidebar. It doesn’t have to do with the Dark issue, but it does have to do with HDR on the new Apple TV.

I saw your message here where you mention you are on the new Apple TV and have no issues. I’ve been encountering an issue that doesn’t occur on the previous model Apple TV and was wondering if you hadn’t encountered it. If I play any file with HDR, it plays fine but there is severe banding. If I switch back to my previous model Apple TV and play the same HDR file, there is no banding. Same if I play it via infuse on the new Apple TV - no banding. I’ve always assumed this was a plex issue (as I and others posted about it in another thread).

Can you confirm that you don’t see this banding issue with HDR on the new Apple TV? Thanks!

mmm. No idea how i missed this until now. I dont see banding on the newer model in Plex.
That said I’m using Infuse full time now for other reasons.

Again apologies for the almost 2 month delay.
