Are links to XBOX Video possible? Placeholders? Anything?

Hi,

I have a collection that I view through Plex, but I also have some digital movies that I purchased through XBOX Video ( a streaming service). (I know, I could have bought the physical disks had I been willing to wait a month for them to release instead of buying the digital version early but I didn’t do that because I’m an impatient fool.)

I don’t like having two separate libraries. Is it possible for Plex to see the XBOX Video library and play its content?

That would be ideal, but failing that, how do other people handle this issue? My only immediate thought is to add a placeholder to my library that refers to a blank file, then “match” that to the actual movie so that the entry shows up in my Plex library with proper metadata (ie: so its visible in the list). I would then need to add some kind of note to indicate its an XBOX Video thing so I at least know where to go to find it.

I don’t have a -ton- of movies like this, but I’d really like to do something proactive about it since the number is only likely to grow as long as the trend of doing digital releases a month before physical releases continues.

I would definitely vote for this as a feature request. TiVo does this now with supported video providers (Amazon, Hulu, Netflix, …). Sadly, I’m not aware of anyway to do it with Plex right now, and I don’t have a solution specifically for Xbox Video. But, the way I handle it with most streaming services is to just record the videos. Then of course put the video file into a Plex library. I use PlayOn to record. It supports most streaming services, but not Xbox Video yet. The other drawback is that the video caps out at 720p/stereo. If you’ve got videos with streaming services other than Xbox, this workaround might be a solution.

Btw, you might want to move this post to either feature request or the windows forum (assuming you’re using windows as the server) since this is probably more of a function that would be built into the server vs the client.

I don’t think the client can access the XB video library at all - but I’ll double check. I suspect we can’t do this though, sorry!
