Are there any plans for AMD hardware acceleration to come to linux

Title is pretty self explanatory, I’m just been looking into making a new plex server (current one is a prebuilt from 2007 so can’t be upgraded) and I would really like to use a ryzen cpu because they’re so much better bang for the buck. The obvious caveat being that as far as I can tell amd hardware acceleration is only supported on windows and especially with the apu’s that are some of the best bang for your buck this would mean I can’t make the server run on linux. As a diehard linux fan for my servers I can’t even comprehend making a plexserver without the various linux tools, namely ssh, and how much easier it is to get programs setup like docker, transmission, openvpn etc. So I was just wondering if there was any plans on this coming in the future which I feel will be increasingly demanded as amd steps up their game more and more.
