May I make a small request of those who are participating ?
I’m just the pretty face and presence in the forum for the entire NAS team. Might I ask you to reach out to (I guess) the social media / whatever methods you all use and let the whole team know?
It would mean a great deal hearing it directly from all of you than it does coming from me through our weekly staff meetings.
Independent FYI. 1.13.6.222 (next alpha candidate) is looking very solid and running well on the DS418j so will likely push to public Alpha this weekend.
at first many thanks for your effort to port the plex server to the ARMv8 platform. I really like plex as media central (mainly for flac music).
With the last public alpha it seemed that something has changed concerning the network stack. I’m using plex to play music on my Sonos speakers, my smartphones and my computer. Since around two weeks I’v experienced several network hickups - i.e. when playing some flacs with my sonos speaker the music stops suddenly and the app tells that there is no connection the to plex server. The same sometimes happens when using the android app. I can’t remember such problems with the first public build but maybe my testing wasn’t that intensive.
I’m using a DS118 with latest software packeges and an one TB ssd storage.
I’ve only enabled external access for my local network.
Thanks and reagards! I really appreciate the support in this forum.
Installed on a 218play. All seemed to set up ok but when adding libraries it accepts the folder and then finds… nothing. Says library is empty. Also note it says it cant ‘claim’ the server in the settings but the main issue is empty libraries.
If it wasn’t for the fact that I can direct stream from it to my Windows 10 Intel PC and even my LG all led TV fast enough using the dual bonded gigabit ports to a neckgear 10 Gb switch I would abandon synology and go to any other server NAS manufacturer but due to the fact that I would lose money selling it to repurchase a play version with Intel CPU & due to having to maintain the synology raid on the 3 x 7 TB NAS drives I’m stuck with it and the sour taste it leaves!
If the proprietary transcoding hardware were made available to us, I’m sure we could do something but to date, it’s never been made available.
With Video Station now officially deprecated and to be dropped end of 2018, it seems pointless to keep to keep it proprietary or even include it at all (if it ever was there).
Unfortunately I don’t have the older spk anymore, but I could imagine a core PMS problem, because the reliabilty of my SMB-folders (v2-v3) changed too. Since running on SMB (fixed v1) it’s wokring stable again but the plex problems persist. So I wasn’t sure whether it could be a co-inincidence. Thanks and regards!
After installation, please test thoroughly and report back.
I cannot speak to the SMB issue but SMB server/client on Synology does behave differently than I expect. It is a good server (v3) but as a SMB client it does not do well hence the (v1) need.
I was running 1.13.3.146-987af09d9 on my DS218Play and all of a sudden this morning I’m getting an “ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED” when I try to brows locally to the http://ip:32400/web. I uninstalled, reinstalled, updated to 1.13.6.176-dd1845234. When I go into the Package Center, Plex Media Server is showing as Running. Only thing that happened is Photo Station updated (to 6.8.8-3482). Please advise. Thanks.
Please manually grab the logs using File Station (Plex share -> library - application support - plex media server - right-click Logs and “Compress to Logs.zip”.
Aug 13, 2018 09:29:52.395 [0x7f8d1f01d0] DEBUG - Disabling DLNA server because the server is now in a home.
Aug 13, 2018 09:29:52.401 [0x7f108551d0] DEBUG - Waiting for Plex DLNA Server to exit.
It then stopped.
Have you restarted the NAS?
If not, I suggest you do.
I also suggest stopping PMS (Package Center)
while FileStation is open, delete “plexmediaserver.pid” (the process id file) if it exists
then restart restart DSM
when it’s back up start PMS
On Synology, you can remove the package safely. I don’t delete your metadata during uninstall.
When it installs, it finds where the existing Library is and uses it.
The external disk is just a backup disk, doesn’t have anything related to plex so please ignore the notification of running out of space. Last event was a week ago, and I was using plex this morning just fine prior to the photo station app updating. That is the only change that I’m aware of. Currently the firewall is disabled. (Control Panel, firewall, enable firewall checkbox is unchecked)
