Hello, works on DS218play. Thanks for it
Found 2 Problems:
It seems, that DTS doesnât work. It will be transcoding, because the medium doesnât support DTS (Player runs on a Sony XE9305)
Movies with a height of 800p have a green horizontal stripe. (At the bottom is the normally black bar, then the green stripe, and then the movie.) Itâs only on movies with height 800p.
Thank you. May I have your PMS logs to see if anything is in them? I would like to verify if just a codec is missing from the build or itâs some other problem
@ChuckPa
I get this error every time I try to play a 4k movie. âPlayback has stopped due to multiple playback errorsâ.
I have a Nvidia Shield coming Thursday will test on that. & Get back to you.
Might be the TV it self (TCL Roku TV).
The File is a 4K movie H.265 Dolby HDR
True HD 7.1/DTS
I just retested and cannot replicate the DTS failure.
I tried DTS 7.1 (which decodes as if DTS 5.1 âcoreâ) and plays correctly
I also tried TrueHD 7.1 which downloads the EAE codec and also plays correctly
Thanks for the compliment Matt.
I promised Iâd let everyone know if/when I I knew anything. I got the boxes and jumped right on the task. Itâs nice to know that there still is a need for it after so much time
@ChuckPa
Update: just received my Nvidia Shield Today. And everything works perfectly. Thank you for your work.
Played all my 4k movies without any hiccups.
I have installed this version on my DS4118 with DSM 6.2. I am running PLEX client on a native MiBox 3 and via Mr MC PLEX client. In MrMC the streaming works without any problem, but with android native Plex client I have stuttering issues with some movies and the well known remark nas performance to slow and so on. Perhaps the server will get more performance with later releases.
Seems also depending on the audio track which is being used. DD and AAC does not create stuttering where Dolby True HD and DTS-HD do. But audio passthrough is enabled and working.
However this version is running well so far. Is there a way to turn off the transcoding of the server completely? I can only set it to automatic besides the other options. or is it necessary to leave it enabled?
Do or can you support hte hardware encoding of this ARM V8 cpu? S o far I know you canât as Synology is using its own accelerating library based on GStreamer.
Thank you very much for your efforts and have a nice weekend.
Thomas,
Performance with any particular players is not the focus here. Our focus at this time, as I stated above:
We are aware there will be dependencies based on codecs. Can you report the particulars of those codecs you are able to stream and at which bitrates without issues as I requested in my OP above? We are seeking to find the upper limit of what the CPU can provide in real-world use.
There is no hardware transcoding capability at this time. It is unknown whether or not there ever will be. We are trying to obtain the details âHow to access itâ. With that path not making progress, Iâve been allowed to bring what we currently have to you and start basic âPlatform testingâ.
As with main PMS, there is no means by which you can turn off transcoding.
Working fine on DS118. DVR via HDHomeRun Quattro also fine. Is there any way to enable or use the channel/grid view of the Guide rather than the older Show list?
This is not 100% current with PMS. We had to pick something to work with. As we move forward, and closer to production release, this will move closer and closer to âcurrentâ PMS.
I suspected that was the case. I have a DS918+ also and will install on that to see how compares. I had planned to use the 118 as a dedicated DVB box and it does seem well suited - apart from no PMS! Not had much luck getting media to play back or live TV to stream to iOS and tvOS apps yet ⊠will report back on that also.
Hey, now i testet x265 with Xbox One S Plex App as player successfully:
Resolution: 4k
Bitstream Video: 33,3 MBit/s - HDR 10
Bitstream Audio: 6,67 MBit/s - 8 Channel
