Artist Level Artwork

Server Version#:1.32.2.7100
Player Version#:1.68.2.3746
I’ve just created a new server on a new laptop, using settings etc of an existing PMS on a PC (both are running Windows 11). I have followed the instructions at https://support.plex.tv/articles/201370363-move-an-install-to-another-system/, and the very helpful @OttoKerner instructions at Plex on two computers - #2 by OttoKerner (I have retained the source server).

The album artwork in the new server perfectly matches the artwork on the source server, and albums have in fact “loaded” in to the new server in the same order (under Recently Added Music) as the source server.

The issue is - Artist posters/backgrounds are not identical to those on the source server, and the posters at the artist level on the new server appear almost exclusively pulled from Plex sources (I have spent a fair bit of time and effort to customize artist poster and background on the source server and had hoped it would replicate on the new server).

New server library scanner is set to Plex Music; Agent is Plex Music, prefer local metadata is checked, genres is Plex Muisc and album art is local files only.

Is there a way to retain all artist level poster and backgrounds from the source server on the new server?

Apologies for lengthy post and thanks for any help.

It should be possible if you copy the whole plex data folder from source to target server using robocopy /MIR. Do NOT zip the plexdata folder prior to copying it to the target machine.
It is also necessary to keep all paths, folder names, and drive letters of the media files exactly as they were on the source machine.

Thanks Otto - will give this a try. Not entirely familiar with robocopy /MIR but will read up. The media for each server is located on the same Synology NAS (spearate from each server), so paths etc should not matter, I am assuming. Oddly, on the destination server, the PMS folder seems to have been created in both the Program Files path (C - Program Files - Plex - Plex Media Server) AND the User AppData - Local path. I am assuming using robocopy /MIR it should point to the User AppData - Local path? Thanks

That’s normal. Don’t mind the files in Program, they are created by the server installer.
Of Importance to you is only the stuff in the Plex data folder and the registry data.
