Hi, I have a Samsung TV which only has ARC and not eARC. I purchased a HDFury Arcana thinking it will help stream Atmos to the Sonos Arc, but it does not work. What I get instead is Multi-Channel PCM 7.1 or 5.1 according to the Sonos App. On the Apple TV, the Atmos option is “On”, whereas before adding the Arcana to the chain, the Atmos option was not available so I think an eARC connection is being detected. However, no Atmos.
Does anyone know if it is possible to get Atmos from a 2021 ATV 4K from the Plex App? If so, what settings should be used?
Thanks….is Atmos from Plex on an ATV something that will come with a future release of Plex or is it technically not possible? I also have a Shield Pro and I can get Atmos from Plex on that device. I purchased the ATV/Acana because the Shield / Plex can’t handle DTS.
It definitely can if your AVR device can.
I own both and the Shield can support pretty much any audio format with passthru.
It actually supports both variants of Atmos.
Personally I found I would rather make sacrifices and found the Apple TV a far more beautiful device.
Yep aesthetics over functionality.
As I get older and my hearing/sight deteriorates, I just prefer the usability of the Apple TV.
Weather a device can play Atmos or not ultimately comes down to the devices capabilities.
So it’s pretty much an apples and oranges comparison.
As of today, the most Plex could ever play on the AppleTV is EAC3 Atmos (I’m not sure if Plex has added support for this or not, but it is possible)
Apple would have to add support for TrueHD to the AppleTV, or further support of their current implementation of dolby MAT 2.0 to allow the conversion. This is not something the Plex or Infuse teams have control of.
