Any idea why with PlexConnect sometimes the whole show or movie caches in memory and sometimes it only caches a minute or two in advance?

You probably need to ask Apple that question but hazarding a wild guess it is probably to do with file size, native vs transcoded/direct streamed files and maybe some algorithm based on your network speed, hard drive space etc.

ha. thanks. I knew it was some mumbo jumbo of Apple out of the control of PlexConnect Devs.

The bad thing is that we often have things out of our control relative to a native app, the good thing is we automatically take advantage of some things like firmware optimisations.
