How is the new Youtube connected to Plex/PlexConnect? I have it... and definitely use PlexConnect.
I think he's saying he seen other aTV's on a newer iOS revision then what he is using with a newer youtube.app on the storefront and is curious if he should update to iOS 8.x+. Personally if this is what he's asking I would say no if using 1080p movies due to this:

YouTube app allows ads now if that matters. But do you have a choice? These auto appear, they are not a result of a firmware update.

That was my understanding as well. But then, why wouldn't they update on every aTV? Firmware dependent?
