Detail on the media file if it is an issue related to playing a media file (in order to get the necessary information on a particular media file go into the Plex web interface, select the video file, when it brings up the page for the media file click on the "i" information button on the left hand side, it will then bring up a "media info" box, click on the "View XML" button, it will then open a browser window with the relevant information, copy this to http://www.pastebin.com and use the pastebin link to post the details; posting the information directly in the forum may mess up the formatting and generally takes up a lot of space):

yesterday i bought an atv3 and wanted plex.so i installed the required certificate on to the atv and got plex connect for my pc but when i run plex connect and go to the trailers app on the atv it just says accesing trailers for five minutes and then says trailers is unavailable try again later and i have made the dns on my atv the same as my computers ipv4 but sometimes it connects and doestn let me play any videos

Throw away settings.cfg as you have messed it up, then restart PlexConnect without altering anything.

i have done this and plex loads up on the atv but when i try and load a video from a channel it says an error occurred loading this content try again later or gets stuck on accessing trailers

In the log - why don't you get hits for the DNSServer?

>>ip_dnsmaster = 192.168.0.9

This is definitely wrong... we need the next level DNS, either the one of your ISP or the default one, Google's.

im confused whats skys dns and where would i put it and these are the settings since i deleted the settings file and started plex connect

[PlexConnect]
port_pms = 32400
port_webserver = 80
ip_plexconnect = 0.0.0.0
certfile = ./assets/certificates/trailers.pem
ip_dnsmaster = 192.168.0.1
loglevel = Normal
enable_dnsserver = True
logpath = .
ip_pms = 192.168.178.10
enable_plexgdm = True
hosttointercept = trailers.apple.com
port_ssl = 443
enable_webserver_ssl = True
prevent_atv_update = True
port_dnsserver = 53
enable_plexconnect_autodetect = True

I struggled with this issue on my first setup as well. I wasn't able to get working certs via the method posted here:

https://github.com/iBaa/PlexConnect/wiki/Install-Guide-Windows-Certificates

Instead, I got it working by following the instructions based on using the iPhone config utility and USB here:

https://forums.plex.tv/topic/79540-windows-specific-instructions-for-creating-and-installing-the-ssl-cert/

Those instructions are also indicated on the official guide here:

https://github.com/iBaa/PlexConnect/wiki/Install-Guide-Certificate-via-USB

One thing to note, the 403 error is kinda a misnomer. The important part of the test where you put in the https://PlexConnectIP:443 is that you get certificate warning, after you click ok/accept/next on it, you'll get the same 403 error, but *should* be able to connect to Plexconnect via the trailers app on your ATV.

That's what worked for me, anyway.

Hope this helps others!

thank you but it is not that i have reinstalled the certs and it still doesnt work

so baa or f00b4r what should i do

set loglevel to High, give us a nice log. :-)

...it really looks like a Cert issue.

Or a firewall issue. Check your settings, allow python access to ports 53 (seems ok), 80 and 443.

how do i allow python to use them ports is it on my router or my windows firewall because if its windows  its off and here is my log http://pastebin.com/1EY1Awq3

That log doesn't show any activity from your aTV.

Also, loglevel was NOT set to "High", was it?

for some reason now when i go on the trailers app it says accessing trailers and after a minute says trailers is unavailable.try again later heres my log

http://pastebin.com/rbDsiqdT

for some reason, this doesn't look like a log of the current PlexConnect version.

How many revisions to you run on your machines?

>>18:36:13 DNSServer: forward other to higher level DNS: 192.168.0.9

As above - ip_dnsmaster should NOT point to your PlexConnect/PMS host - either to dflt (Google), or your ISP's DNS.

Additionally the attached log did not show you hitting the trailers app... aTV was stuck trying to figure out where to get data from. Actually, after a reboot, it would have only shown the native Computer+Settings icons...

it did just have computer and settings but i changed it to automatic dns then back to manuel what does that mean and what should i do

- PlexConnect:

make sure you know which version you are running - remove the old ones, keep 0.3.1+

- PlexConnect settings.cfg:

set ip_dnsmaster to '8.8.8.8', short for Google's main DNS

set loglevel to "High" - just in case

- (re-) start PlexConnect

- aTV settings:

set aTV DNS to manual/192.168.0.9 - the IP of your computer running PlexConnect

remove the/all profiles
re-add profile/certificate from 192.168.0.9/trailers.cer or something. See WIKI installation guide.

- reboot aTV, making sure you still get all the homescreen icons
- select trailers app

-> Have fun with Plex/aTV. Or post the latest settings.cfg plus log.

For some reason it just started working it may of been cause I have uninstalled logmein hamachi but I have one last question when I’m watching South Park on my atv how come it just stops where there should be a advert?

A VPN tunnel will confuse PlexConnect as it assigns different IP addresses, you can get round this by disabling GDM and hard coding the PMS IP in settings.cfg.

If the South Park question is about a channel then you may want to ask this in the channels sticky, after testing it on the iOS/android client to see if they have the same issue.

>>Southpark

It's the stacked file's issue, isn't it? Does it need transcoding?
